The Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (MFAT) MFAT is looking for a skilled Media Adviser to join its high performing team.

The Media Adviser is responsible for supporting and contributing to timely and effective media management services to the Ministry, including the Chief Executive’s office, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Ministers’ offices, Divisions and our Posts offshore.

If you are an experienced Media Adviser or Communications practitioner with the following skills and experience, tono mai – apply now:

  • At least 3 years’ media experience
  • Experience in a range of communications environments, including government and private sector
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to turn content around quickly
  • The ability to stay calm in any storm, at any time
  • A well-tuned risk radar

Ideally you will also have a good understanding of tikanga (Māori customs and protocols), with the ability to weave te ao Māori (the Māori worldview) into your work. If you are just starting on this journey, pai ana (it’s ok too), as long as you have a willingness to learn and a desire to develop your cultural capability.
