Clarification on Database Miscommunication

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO OUR WHĀNAU

E ngā iwi, e ngā karangatanga maha o Te Arawa, tēnā koutou katoa.

It has come to our attention that false information has been circulating regarding a supposed “hack” of our old database system. We want to reassure all our whānau that this is false.

The issue with our previous system was not a security breach, but rather the presence of invalid or outdated email addresses. These issues arose due to incorrect importation processes, not due to any external hacking or data compromise.

We take data protection and the privacy of our people very seriously.

Te Kotahitanga o Te Arawa Waka Fisheries Trust would like to confirm:

  • Our new registration database is secure, robust, and built with modern safety measures to protect all information.
  • We were not hacked.
  • Our focus remains on growing accurate and secure iwi registration, ensuring our whānau can confidently stay connected and informed.

We are calling on all our whānau who have not yet registered or need to update their details to please do so. Your registration helps ensure that you and your whānau can access important iwi opportunities, support, and communications.

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact our team directly.

Nō reira, kia mataara, kia mau ki te pono.

Ngā mihi nui,
Te Kotahitanga o Te Arawa Waka Fisheries Trust
