Born and raised in Rotorua, Tara Sears is of Te Arawa (Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Pikiao) and Ngāpuhi decent.
Tara has recently completed her Diploma in Business, majoring in Marketing and Sales and is excited to be entering in to a role which compliments and utilises her qualification. She will have the opportunity to not only share her knowledge with us, but further her own learnings within our organisation.
Te Arawa Fisheries has embarked on the implementation of our new Ka Pu Te Ruha Strategy to grow the organisation with new products into new domestic and International markets.
Tara is passionate about self-sustainability and is currently living off-grid and hopes to apply this knowledge in her new role, particularly with some of Te Arawa Fisheries’ upcoming projects like the Aka Rakau carbon offset kaupapa and a new Smoked Mussel enterprise that will produce new value added product for domestic and North American markets.
Tara has already had the opportunity to work with our team at Te Arawa Fisheries and is looking forward to collaborating with such an awesome, diverse and knowledgeable group of people.
In her spare time, Tara likes to look after her animals (pigs, chickens and a dog), tend to her vegetable gardens, and do projects around the house.
