Tēnā koutou,
As we pulled together our kōrero for the Westpac Rotorua Business Awards 2020, we had the chance to reflect on the mahi that has allowed us to transition and continue our journey.
In case you missed – we are proud and humbled to announce we have been nominated in two categories in the Rotorua Business Awards, which are delivered by the Rotorua Business Chamber.
We have been nominated for two awards. The first is a Bilingual Business Award promoting companies embracing Te Reo Māori and Tikanga, showcasing the importance and value of Rotorua’s bilingual city status.
As we strive to unfold our Ka Pu Te Ruha Strategy, we are embedding our reo, culture and tikanga into everything we do.
We are proudly owned and led by Te Arawa for Te Arawa. As part of our five-year plan, sustainability will be embedded in all that we do, and our culture will be what makes us stand out, both domestically and on the global stage.
We will continue to use all the tools and levers in our business kete to foster and promote our culture, through our everyday kōrero and the use of targeted marketing, branding and digital technology to share our stories.
Ma te kaha o te mahi
i roto i te Matauranga,
ka whakawhiwhia
It is through hard work and knowledge will we achieve
The second award we have been nominated for is a new category; Building Back Better in response to COVID-19. This category will recognise and celebrate an organisation that has found innovative solutions to successfully operate in our new “normal” environment.
Like the rest of the world, COVID-19 changed everything for us. We uphold the responsibility of being owned by 10 Iwi of Te Arawa with more than 11,000 shareholders who expect us to be effective, prosperous and support a healthy Te Arawa Moana.
Ka Pu Te Ruha lays out our direction to transition from being passive to active and move from a volume to value business while growing our assets for future generations.
Through our strategy we are building resilience into our organisation against future COVID-like shocks, all while holding firm to our guiding values.
Ka pu te ruha ka hao te rangatahi
The old net is cast aside and the new net goes fishing
The awards ceremony will be on Saturday 31st October 2020.
Thank you for your continued support.
Ngā mihi,
Chris Karamea-Insley
